The warranty database: what is actually covered

By Md Hasan · Updated 2026-08-13 · Editorial policy · How we rank

Some brands below are disclosed affiliate partners and some are not. This page reads their documents identically, and the worst finding on it is about a brand we have an application pending with. Full disclosure

What reading the documents turned up

The pattern, across every brandThe structure gets the long warranty. The powered component that actually fails — heater or chiller — gets one year.1 yr
A “lifetime” that isn’tIce Barrel’s own terms: “the limited lifetime warranty is limited to 3 years.” Delamination excluded after one.3 yrs
Longest real tub warrantyNordic Wave, 5 years residential — but third-party freight forwarding voids it entirely.5 yrs
Widest structure gapAlmost Heaven covers the structure for life; Redwood covers it for one year, on a building you assemble yourself.Life vs 1 yr
What no warranty coversFreight damage, labour, crane, rigging, permits, electrician. A covered claim can still cost you thousands.$0

Warranty length is the most quoted and least read specification in this category. So we read the documents — not the product page bullet, the actual warranty terms — and recorded what they say, with the date we read them and a link so you can check our work.

Three things this table tells you that no brand page will

1. The long warranty is on the part that doesn’t break. Cedar sitting in your yard and a rotomoulded barrel are not what fail. Compressors and heating elements are — and every single brand here covers those for twelve months. When a seller leads with “lifetime warranty”, they are advertising coverage on the component least likely to need it.

2. “Lifetime” is a marketing word, not a legal one. Ice Barrel writes “limited lifetime warranty” on the product page and “the limited lifetime warranty is limited to 3 years” in the terms. We repeated the marketing phrase ourselves until we read the document, which is why this page exists.

3. The exclusions cost more than the coverage. Redwood excludes freight damage entirely — and freight damage is the single most common thing that goes wrong. Every brand excludes labour, crane and rigging, so a “covered” structural claim on a 1,150 lb sauna still leaves you paying to move it. Nordic Wave voids the whole warranty if you use third-party freight forwarding, or if you leave it uninstalled for 30 days.

What to send before you pay

One email, to any seller, and keep the reply:

“Please confirm in writing: (1) the warranty term on the heater/chiller specifically, (2) what a replacement costs today, (3) whether freight damage is covered and what I must do on delivery day to preserve that, and (4) who pays labour and rigging on a covered claim.”

A seller who answers those four plainly is one worth buying from. A seller who won’t is telling you something. This is red flag #6 in our vetting guide, and item 12 on the printable checklist.

Did this page tell you something the brand pages didn’t?

We read the fine print so you don’t have to

Warranty terms change quietly. We re-read them, and we tell you when a brand’s coverage moves — along with genuine price drops on anything we track.

Method: terms read directly from each manufacturer’s own published warranty document on the date shown, with a link to the source in every row. Warranty documents change without notice and we re-read them periodically — confirm current terms in writing before purchase, and treat this page as a guide to what to ask rather than a substitute for the contract you sign. Not yet verified (their terms are quote-gated, unpublished, or we have not read them yet): Dynamic Saunas Barcelona 2-Person, Sun Home Saunas Luminar 2-Person Outdoor Full-Spectrum, Sauna Kit Co DIY Cabin Kit (typical config), Sweaty Yeti Sauna 4-6 Person (base), Plunge All-In Gen 2, Plunge The Plunge + Pro Chiller Gen 2, Clearlight Sanctuary 2 (full spectrum), Sunlighten mPulse / Amplify / Signature lines, Plunge Chill Cold Plunge Chiller (1/3 HP), Plunge Chill Cold Plunge Tub + Chiller (Pod), Peak Saunas Everest 2-Person (indoor, full spectrum), Peak Saunas Denali 3-Person (indoor, full spectrum), Peak Saunas Patagonia 2-Person Outdoor.
